Who We Are
CMC Initiative Inc. ("CMCI," "we," "us") is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 46-1052114) based in Atlanta, Georgia, dedicated to alcohol and substance abuse prevention on college campuses. This policy explains what information we collect through cmci.co, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- Donation information. When you give, our payment processor collects your name, email address, billing information, and gift amount. CMCI receives your name, email, and gift details; we never see or store your full card number.
- Newsletter sign-ups. Your email address, when you subscribe to updates.
- Contact. Any information you send us by email at info@cmci.co.
- Basic technical data. Standard web server logs and hosting analytics (such as pages visited and general device information) used to keep the site working and secure.
Donor Recognition & Public Acknowledgment
To celebrate the generosity that makes our work possible, CMCI publicly acknowledges gifts on our website and in our materials. When we do, we share only a donor's first name (or first names, for couples) together with the gift amount and gift date — for example, "Sarah · $50."
We never publicly share a donor's last name, email address, mailing address, payment details, or any other identifying information as part of donor recognition. First name and amount are the only details displayed.
Prefer to give anonymously? Just email info@cmci.co before or after your gift and we will exclude your gifts from public recognition. You can opt out at any time and we will promptly remove any existing acknowledgment.
How We Use Your Information
- To process donations and send gift receipts and tax acknowledgment letters.
- To recognize donors as described above.
- To send updates, stories, and appeals if you have subscribed or given (you may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email).
- To respond to your questions and requests.
- To operate, secure, and improve our website.
Payment Processing
Donations are processed securely by MoonClerk and Stripe. Your payment information is transmitted with industry-standard encryption directly to these processors and is governed by their privacy policies. CMCI does not store credit card numbers.
What We Never Do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade our donor or subscriber lists to anyone.
- We do not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
- We do not publicly disclose anything beyond first name, gift amount, and gift date in donor recognition — and never if you have opted out.
Service Providers
We use trusted vendors to operate — including payment processing (MoonClerk, Stripe), website hosting (Netlify), and email delivery. These providers may process your information only to perform services for us and are obligated to protect it.
Data Retention & Security
We retain donation records as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, and our website is served over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
Children
Our website and donation pages are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Choices
- Anonymous giving / recognition opt-out: email info@cmci.co.
- Email preferences: unsubscribe via the link in any email, or email us.
- Access, correction, or deletion: email us and we will honor your request to the extent permitted by our legal and tax record-keeping obligations.
Financial & State Disclosures
CMC Initiative Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN 46-1052114). A copy of our most recent IRS Form 990 and financial information is available upon request by emailing info@cmci.co.
Certain states require charities soliciting contributions to register and to provide state-specific disclosure statements. Registration in a state does not imply endorsement, approval, or recommendation by that state. Residents may obtain information about CMCI directly from us or from their state's charity regulator.
